Fillies Maiden 5f 160yds

Katie Bairdie, who shaped with plenty of promise when third at Cork last time, can get her head in front. The Fozzy Stack-trained filly was prominent throughout, before keeping on well once headed. Those tactics should prove ideal around this tighter track and she has a crucial advantage over her main rivals, in that she is proven with an ease underfoot.

Oh So Bright sets a fair standard off a rating of 73 but Jessica Harrington’s filly has yet to race on turf. If able to replicate her smart Dundalk form, the daughter of Starspangledbanner has to be a serious threat.

A beaten favourite on her stable debut last month, Spanish Cara can recover losses on her second start for Joseph O’Brien. With that run coming on the polytrack at Dundalk, the daughter of Raven’s Pass could be seen in a better light now reverting to turf. The form of her Curragh third on debut looks particularly strong in the context of this race.

Goldrush Kid would be of definite interest if fit for this seasonal reappearance. Patrick Magee did very well with his small team of juveniles last term and this son of Unfortunately ran particularly well when runner-up at Navan in October.

Recent Curragh winner Redshore City may be able to double up for trainer Natalia Lupini. The four-year-old hadn’t shown a great deal on the polytrack during the winter but clearly appreciated the return to grass when shedding his maiden tag at the 19th attempt. Having finished runner-up at this track last August, the gelding has already proven his ability to act around the tight turns.

The locally-trained Sneddy Eddie will almost certainly have been laid out for this meeting. A winner over course and distance last May, Mark McNiff’s gelding should be all the better over his recent run at Leopardstown.

SELECTION: REDSHORE CITY

Glyde Ranger, who had been in decent form on the polytrack over the winter, can record a second course-and-distance win. The Tom McCourt-trained four-year-old looked as though he needed a test of stamina on a number of occasions prior to opening his account last August when racing beyond a mile and a half for the first time. He could still be well handicapped off a mark of 60.

Galway winner Grann’s Boy remains open to improvement off just a 5lb higher mark. The Harry Rogers-trained son of Zoffany arrives here on the back of a nice run over hurdles at Tramore last month.

Runner-up in the Connacht Oaks here last August, No Niki No can go one better for trainer Eoghan O’Neill. The Kildare trainer has his string in fine heart at present and this eight-year-old is one who tends to run her best races early in the season. A tough, honest front-runner, she should appreciate these conditions, so won’t go down without a battle.

Camelot Alexander is thoroughly unexposed so has to command maximum respect for Jessica Harrington. The three-year-old made a winning handicap debut at Gowran Park last month but could still have mileage from a revised mark of 84.

Red Ball Of Fire will need plenty of luck in running but the locally-trained mare can gain a first success on the flat. A three-time winner over hurdles at this track, Mark McNiff’s seven-year-old has suffered nightmare passages on a few occasions when holding every chance in this discipline. From stall one, she is likely to be dropped in and ridden to arrive late but if the gaps appear she can come home in front.

Dromore Glory ran a big race on his return from a long absence when runner-up at Dundalk last month. The Paul Flynn-trained gelding will most likely have to be dropped in from his wide draw but in Colin Keane he has the best man for that particular job.

The Paul Flynn-trained Solar Drive can follow up his recent win at Cork. Although dropping back in trip here, the way the grey travelled at the Munster venue suggests that, if anything, he will be even more effective at this shorter distance. While the handicapper has effectively raised the gelding 9lb for that success, he ran from 3lb out of the handicap on that occasion.

Gavin Cromwell’s Moutarde has to be a real threat, having taken on and beat older horses at Naas last month. A subsequent 3lb rise seems more than fair. With the trainer continuing to be among the winners under both codes, another big run looks on the cards.

SELECTION: SOLAR DRIVE
