Michael Hickey is one the best-known faces in Irish National Hunt racing and breeding.
He bred Gold Cup winner Kicking King, a son of Old Vic who stood at Michael and Sheelagh Hickey's Sunnyhill Stud for many years.
Deeply involved in jump racing on many levels, Michael became a member of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee in 1995 and has served as Senior Steward. He has sat on the Licensing Committee, the Point to Point Committee and the Appeals and Referrals Committee.
He has also been on the board of Horse Racing Ireland, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, Punchestown Racecourse and the Programmes Committee Working Group.
Michael tasted success as a rider on the racetrack and in point-to-points, while he also represented Ireland in the show jumping arena on many occasions, including in three successive Aga Khan Trophy competitions.
Sunnyhill Stud sends six horses to the 2016 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale and in this video we asked Michael to talk us through the consignment.
