GOFFS have hinted at an increase in online activity after the Aga Khan Online Sale achieved a 100% clearance rate. Seven lots were offered online on Thursday, after the leading owner/breeder operation withdrew their February Sale draft, following the passing of His Highness the Aga Khan.

Sulaiyma topped proceedings at €150,000 and the daughter of Kingman will join her half-sister Sunniyra at Tally Ho Stud, with the O’Callaghan family having bought her sibling for €68,000 at the venue’s 2021 November Breeding Stock Sale.

Since then, their Sea The Stars half-sister Sumiha has won the Group 3 Munster Oaks, while their Siyouni half-sister Suwayra sold for €410,000 in 2023. There are plenty of possibilities of future updates, as their group-placed dam has a Pinatubo three-year-old to run, a two-year-old filly by Night Of Thunder and yearling colt by Zarak.

Thoroughbred Investments signed for the highly-rated Harzand mare Kayhana at €65,000. Twice fourth at listed level, the five-year-old is a half-sister to Group 3 performer Katiba.

A breeding career presumably now beckons for her, as it does for Middlelane Farm’s €55,000 purchase Muzina. The unraced Teofilo four-year-old is out of an 82-rated half-sister to Sydney Cup victor Mourayan and Melbourne Cup third Mourilyan.

The successful sale was particularly important, considering Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby’s hints at future plans for Goffs. “Today’s sale went seamlessly and clearly demonstrated the customer friendliness of Goffs Online,” Beeby commented.

“We have been relatively quiet in this space recently, but are working on something a little different, about which more in due course…”

Pat Downes’ post-sale comments were also encouraging for Goffs’ potential plans, as the Aga Khan Stud’s Manager said: “The Goffs Online process was highly efficient and well run, so I can envisage us making more use of it in the future.”
