THE Annaharvey club got on the scoreboard in the Horse Sport Ireland showing section on Sunday at the AIRC Festival in Mullingar, when Vikki Jenkins and her 17-year-old skewbald gelding Mr Woo first won their traditional Irish cob class, as they did last year, and then the breeds’ championship, as they did last year, for the Eddie Fowler Memorial Cup.

Drynam’s Louise Kavanagh was beckoned into the reserve slot with her Irish Draught class winner, Fred Showtime, her well-known 11-year-old grey gelding by Fintan Himself, who has been in the ribbons extensively this season. The other winners which went forward for the championship were the Aileen Dwyer-ridden Hollymount Dream, a six-year-old bay mare by Westerner from the thoroughbred class, and Glengarriff’s Sarah Jane Sinnott and her Connemara class winner Shanbo Rory, a 17-year-old grey son of Rory Rasputin.

There was a good-sized entry for the Sunday’s side saddle class, which was won by Benbulben’s Breda Perrin on her ISH gelding Erronagh Sky. First listed as competing at the Festival back in 2011, the 22-year-old Cruising grey was bred by Mary McCann.
