BORN To Sea will stand alongside his half-brother Sea The Stars at Gilltown Stud this year.

The young stallion, whose first crop of foals sold particularly well at the sales last autumn, had begun his stud career at Rathasker Stud.

Trained by John Oxx for owner Christopher Tsui and Sunderland Holdings, Born To Sea (by Invincible Spirit) won a listed race at the Curragh over six furlongs at two years.

As a three-year-old his best performance came when finishing second to Camelot in the 2012 Irish Derby. His fee remains at €10,000 this year.

Pat Downes, manager of the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud, said of the new arrival: “He is a young stallion with a wonderful pedigree, and the recent demand for his foals at the sales is a clear indicator of the confidence of buyers to invest in another son of the outstanding matriarch, Urban Sea.”

Three foals by Born To Sea realised over €100,000 at the sales, including a top price of €220,000.
