THE dam of Goliath, this year’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner, will be offered at the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale.
A listed-winning daughter of Shamardal and sister to a German Group 2 winner, Gouache is in foal to six-time Group 1 winner Baaeed, Europe’s highest rated horse since Frankel. She will be offered for sale at Goffs by Millennium Stud.
Trained in Chantilly by Francis-Henri Graffard, Goliath travelled strongly through Ascot’s mid-season showpiece before powering clear from a world-class field that included Auguste Rodin, Luxembourg, Bluestocking and Rebel’s Romance.
The four-year-old Alderflug gelding won in the colours of owner Philip Baron Von Ullman and was bred at his family’s famous Gestüt Schlenderhan.
John Stewart of Resolute Racing recently purchased a majority share in Goliath as part of his expanding European racing interests, with the Group 1 Champion Stakes at Ascot in Goliath’s sights, while the Breeders’ Cup and Japan Cup are also under consideration.
Goffs’ CEO Henry Beeby said: “It is an honour for Goffs to be chosen to sell Goliath’s dam Gouache and we are very grateful to her owners for this vote of confidence in our service which follows a record sale in 2023 when we sold the two highest priced mares anywhere in the world.”
Entries for the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale will close in the coming days.
