DRAGON Symbol, who finished first past the post in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, has been retired from racing and will stand at Whitsbury Manor Stud for the 2024 breeding season.
Located between Salisbury and Southampton, Whitsbury Manor is home to Havana Grey, Showcasing, Due Diligence and Sergei Prokofiev.
A five-time winner during his career, Dragon Symbol was placed in both the July Cup and the Nunthorpe, on top of his unlucky second at Royal Ascot where the stewards awarded the race to Campanelle.
Also placed twice in Group 2 company, Dragon Symbol is by the Invincible Spirit horse Cable Bay out of a mare by the Oasis Dream horse Arcano.
Ed Harper of Whitsbury Manor said: “In the helter-skelter world of sprinting it is very rare to find elite level consistency, but Dragon Symbol put together a sequence of five top-class performances every month from the Sandy Lane in May to the Nunthorpe in August, marking him down as an exceptional sprinter.”
