BEARSTONE Stud announces that Champion two-year-old and multiple Group 1 winner Belardo will relocate from Ireland to its Shropshire base for the 2023 breeding season.
The son of Lope De Vega has been standing at Kildangan Stud since his retirement in 2017. Some of his most notable first-crop progeny include Isabella Giles, who won the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, and a pair of Group 3 winners in Elysium, winner of the Park Stakes at the Curragh, and the Bearstone-bred Prix Miesque winner Lullaby Moon.
This year
Belardo gained Group success this season when the former Jessica Harrington trained Bellabel won the Group 2 San Clemente Stakes at Del Mar and Gold Phoenix, previously trained in Ireland by Kieran Cotter, won the Group 2 Del Mar Handicap.
The owner of Bearstone Stud, Terry Holdcroft, commented on the move:
“We are delighted that Darley has entrusted us with a stallion who has made such a promising start at stud and was bred to 215 mares in the last two years."
His stud fee has been set at £6,500 October 1st Special Live Foal
