JOHN and Clodagh McStay have placed their 68-acre Oaklawn Stud up for auction with a guide price of €1.5 million.

The compact stud encompasses two yards - Oaklawn Stud and Carhue Stud.

The property was originally the property of the O’Mahony family and the house was developed over 100 years ago. Trainers who formerly trained from the property included ‘Ginger’ Wellesley, Richard Annesley and Pat O’Leary.

The stud farm was developed by the late Michael McStay and has been owned and successfully managed since the late 1980s by his daughter-in-law, Clodagh, and Michael’s son John, a former Turf Club senior steward, who added adjacent lands. Notable winners from the farm include Covert Love (Irish Oaks), Endless Time, Military Mission, Tiger Cliff and Captain Ramius.

The land is laid out in 23 divisions with internal roadway system leading to all paddocks. The property will be auctioned on Friday, October 25th at 3pm in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge unless previously sold.

    STEVE Parkin’s 206-acre Curragh property will be auctioned at 3pm next Wednesday (October 2nd) at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, Co Kildare. The property is guiding in excess of €4.7 million.
