THERE were emotional scenes at Doncaster on Monday when Goldford Stud sold a Blue Bresil three-year-old filly for a record-breaking £210,000.
Goldford Stud was founded by Richard Aston who passed away at the end of April. His wife Sally and son Charlie now run the stud which has produced the top lot at the Goffs UK Spring Store Sale on 10 occasions.
Out of the Grade 2 placed Presenting mare Petticoat Tails, the Blue Bresil filly surpassed the previous British store horse record of £200,000 set at this sale last year, when selling to Highflyer Bloodstock and Jerry McGrath.
Other lots to feature in Monday's session included Galbertstown Stables’ Walk In The Park gelding which sold to Kevin Ross Bloodstock and Harry Fry for £95,000, Brown Island Stables’ Kamsin half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Roll On Has which was knocked down to the bid of Tom Malone and Jamie Snowden for £85,000, and Ballincurrig House Stud’s Cokoriko gelding which was purchased by Ryan Mahon for £82,000.
The second and final day of the Doncaster Spring Store Sale starts at 11am on Tuesday, while the two-day Horses In Training and Point-to-Point Sale starts on Wednesday.
