A day after seeing Honeysuckle lose her unbeaten record, Peter Molony was back to work at Goffs on Monday where he paid €85,000 for a colt foal by Epatante's sire, No Risk At All.
Molony's purchase is the first foal out of Mrs Lovett, a consistent blacktype performer over fences for trainer Gordon Elliott a few years ago. Her colt was consigned by Yorton Stud in Wales.
Owner of Rathmore Stud in Co Limerick and racing manager for Honeysuckle's owner Kenny Alexander, Molony is also a member of the Goffs NH inspection team.
Rathmore is also selling 11 foals this week, with two of them featuring in the top 13 lots sold on day one. They also consign the Grade 1 winner Concertista, who is set to go through the ring on Thursday.
Nicky Sullivan bought Rathmore's filly by Affinisea for €35,000 and Richard Frisby gave €44,000 for a Walk In The Park filly from Rathmore.
The Affinisea filly is out of Monbeg Rose, a blacktype winner over hurdles. Her first two foals are not yet of racing age.
The filly by Walk In The Park is a half-sister to dual winner Seelotmorebusiness and was consigned by Rathmore on behalf of Cyril Crowe and Mags Melody, dairy farmers from Quin in Co Clare.
Earlier in the day Molony paid €30,000 for a colt foal by Maxios from Mountain View Stud.
Jonbon kept his sire Walk In The Park in the headlines last weekend and it was no surprise that foals by that stallion dominated the early exchanges.
By 6pm on Monday, five of the 10 top-priced lots were by the Grange Stud stallion.
Aidan 'Mouse' O'Ryan paid €60,000 for a Walk In The Park half-sister to Grand National winner One For Arthur, consigned by John Dwan's Ballyreddin Stud.
Ian Ferguson spent €58,000 on the Walk In The Park colt from Pat Connell's Peria Stud in Tallow, Co Waterford. The foal is the first out of the winning Shirocco mare Lily Of Leysbourne, herself a full-sister to blacktype hurdler and winning chaser Tedham.
Sarah Connell of Peria Stud said: "Ian Ferguson also bought Ballyadam from us and he won a Grade 1 race, so hopefully he will be lucky again with this one."
The Bleahen brothers from Co Galway were responsible for five winners last weekend, including Fairyhouse bumper scorer Better Days Ahead. Their Monday purchases included a Walk In The Park colt from the family of Conflated for €45,000 and a colt by Order Of St George for €35,000.
Yorton Stud, consignor of the session-topper, saw its only other offering this week sell to Richard Frisby who went to €47,000 for a colt foal by Blue Bresil.
The sale continues on Tuesday when one of the highlights will be the Walk In The Park colt foal out of Grade 1 winner Shattered Love.
