GILLTOWN Stud’s Arc hero Sea The Stars remains one of Europe’s leading sires and has impressive ratios of 12% stakes winners to runners and 66% winners to runners. The son of Cape Cross will stand again for a fee of €150,000 in 2021.

Moving from €100,000 to €140,000 for next season is the Haras de Bonneval-based Siyouni after a splendid season which saw his stock win five Group 1s. His versatility was demonstrated by the range of his Group 1 wins, from Sottsass’ Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe to St Mark’s Basilica’s Dewhurst Stakes, and also featuring classic glory for Dream And Do.

Harzand stands alongside his sire Sea The Stars at Gilltown Stud and the young sire made a promising start with several successes from his first juveniles, including the highly-rated Port Sunlight and French Fusion in Ireland. The dual Derby winner’s progeny will surely continue to progress at three and he is unchanged at €8,000. Dariyan too made an excellent start with his first juveniles, including two blacktype performers in France. The Group 1 winning son of Shamardal is also unchanged at €8,000 at the Haras de Bonneval.

Son of Dubawi and the great Zarkava and standing at Haras de Bonneval, Zarak was represented by his first yearlings in 2020 and these averaged over three times his covering fee, which remains unchanged at €12,000 for 2021.

Fee set for Maximum Security; Authentic retires

World champion and Eclipse Award winner Maximum Security has been retired and will stand in 2021 at Ashford Stud for a fee of $20,000. He was first past the post in all of his four Grade 1 starts as a sophomore winning the Haskell, the Cigar Mile and the Florida Derby and was arguably unlucky to have lost the Kentucky Derby despite having run out an easy winner. As a four-year-old, Maximum Security won the lucrative Saudi Cup, defeating eight individual Grade 1 winners, before transferring to Bob Baffert for whom he won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic Stakes.

The best son of Street Cry’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner New Year’s Day, Maximum Security is a three-parts brother to triple Grade 1 winner Flat Out. Ashford’s director of sales Charlie O’Connor said: “He’s an extremely impressive-looking individual.”

The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic and Grade 1 Kentucky Derby winner Authentic has been retired to B Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm in Lexington where he will stand in 2021 for a fee of $75,000.

“Ultimately, we just felt there wasn’t a lot more to accomplish for a Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, so we have made the decision to retire Authentic to stand alongside his champion sire Into Mischief,” said Ned Toffey, general manager at Spendthrift.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Authentic beat six Grade 1 winners last weekend. He moved his earnings to $6,191,200 with his sixth win from eight starts.
