IT was a case of lucky 13 yesterday at Goresbridge for Windgates Farm when that lot number sold for €5,200 to top the trade at their Mixed Thoroughbred Sale.

Leo Reilly signed for the four-year-old unraced daughter of Arch who was sold with a February covering to Haatef. Named Khaawy, she is out of a winning Kingmambo half-sister to Derbaas who was a Group 2 winner in Dubai.

This is the family of Aljabr and he was successful at Group 1 level in the Lockinge Stakes, Sussex Stakes and Prix de la Salamandre.

Champagne Fever and Hidden Cyclone are just two of the star performers by Stowaway and he sired Railstown Stud’s three-year-old half-sister to a hurdle winner and two point-to-point winners.

Their King’s Theatre dam Katieella is out of an own-sister to Winter Squall and a half-sister to Carobee. She cost purchaser Cormac Doyle €5,000.

Ringview Stud’s two-year-old Bushranger gelding is a half-brother to four winners, all of his dam’s runners, and she too was a winner at two years. The grandam Lionne had a perfect record at stud with all her six foals winning, the best of which were the stakes winners Grace O’Malley and Jadalee.

The third dam bred the Derby winner and successful sire Sir Percy. Richard Ryan gave €4,600 for the juvenile.

It took a bid of €3,600 from Rich Furlong to acquire Andy Murphy’s three-year-old gelding by Whitmore’s Conn and he is out of an unraced half-sister to the dam of black type winners Morning Run and Morning Supreme.

Three lots sold for €3,000. John Walsh gave that amount to Edel Patterson for a four-year-old gelding by Group 2 winner Alkaadhem out of the hurdle winner D’bibbys Step. Soon afterwards the price was matched when Dick Frisby secured another four-year-old gelding, this one being a son of Flemensfirth out of an unraced half-sister to For Bill, and their dam was a half-sister to For William. Ballyheshall Stud sold this lot.

The third lot to make €3,000 was Ballybyrn Farm’s three-year-old daughter of Dilshaan from the family of Midland Grand National winner Seven Towers and the Grand National Trial Chase winner Teeming Rain.
