OSARUS staged their annual breeze up sale this week and trade was similar to last year, with eight lots again selling for €40,000 or more. Emmanuel Viaud was putting a brave face on the results which were still challenging, with less than 60% of lots changing hands.

Last year’s top lot, at €105,000, was Golconda, a daughter of Planteur who went on to win twice and be listed placed. She sold later in the year for €200,000 to continue her career in the USA. This year’s top lot at €90,000 was another filly, sold and bought by the same people involved with Golconda.

A daughter of Anodin, she was bought for €17,000 as a yearling by Paul Basquin and sold from Haras du Saubouas to Christopher Ferland. She will race for Ecurie Vivaldi and is already a half-sister to the Group 2-placed Hello My Love and multiple winner I Am In Love. The same vendor and purchaser later combined for the sale of yet another Anodin offering, this time a colt who was bought at the same venue in September for €43,000. He made €60,000.

The well-established Siyouni had a pair of offspring among the six lots to realise €50,000 or more. His son of Mythical Border cost Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International €75,000 and was sold by Ecurie Prevost Baratte on behalf of Al Shahania Stud. The colt was bought for Middleham Park Racing and will be trained by Richard Hannon.

Mandore International was very busy at the top end of trade, taking home half of the six top lots. The agency paid €57,000 for a daughter of Camelot and €50,000 for a son of Wootton Bassett. Both lots are for owner Alain Jathiere.

Marc-Antoine Berghgracht paid €50,000 for the second lot in the sale, a daughter of the Aga Khan Studs’ Siyouni out of the winner producing Sageburg mare Sage Melody. She will be trained by Frederic Rossi in Marseille.
