THE November Sale conducted by Tattersalls Ireland Ltd at Fairyhouse is still by far the world’s biggest National Hunt auction. This year it will extend to five days from Sunday to Thursday, November 10th to 14th, with around 1,200 entries.

The sale starts on the Sunday with 107 National Hunt yearlings, then on Monday come the first of 1,004 National Hunt foals, which continue throughout the next three days. Finally, the broodmares and fillies come on Thursday. Selling begins at 10am each day except Sunday when it starts at 12 noon.

There have been many individual graded winners in recent years which were sold at the November National Hunt Sale, including Grade 1 stars Sizing John, Faugheen, Lord Windermere, Captain Chris, Bobs Worth, More Of That, First Lieutenant, Thistlecrack, Yorkhill, Native River and The New One.

Among the foals catalogued, there are very large numbers by most of the top sires, including Califet, Dylan Thomas, Flemensfirth, Getaway, Leading Light, Mahler, Malinas, Milan, Mount Nelson, Ocovango, Presenting, Sageburg, Shantou, Shirocco, Sholokhov, Soldier Of Fortune, Walk In The Park, Westerner and Yeats. There are half-brothers to Altior, Benefficient, No More Heroes and Special Tiara, as well as half-sisters to L’Ami Serge and Tornado Flyer.
