BECTIVE Stud this week took ownership of another rising star, paying €150,000 at the Auctav online sale for Iberique Du Seuil.
This three-year-old son of Spanish Moon (El Prado) is out of a winning half-sister to the dam of seven-time Grade 1 winner Defi Du Seuil (Voix Du Nord), and from the family of Grade 3 chase winner Coo Star Sivola (Assessor) and this year’s listed Sandown chase winner Farinet (Lord Du Sud).
By the sire of Laurina, Grand Roi and Dallas Des Pictons, Iberique Du Seuil was runner-up on his debut over hurdles at Vichy at the beginning of the month and he will join Gordon Elliott to pursue a career over hurdles.
Eddie O’Leary acted for Bective Stud and said: “He’s a nice young horse with a good first run under his belt. Hopefully he’ll settle into Gordon’s yard and make a nice juvenile hurdler. Hopefully he’ll be lucky”
The second lot for sale was Heltenham, a four-year-old son of the St Leger winner Masked Marvel (Montjeu) and from his second crop. Tom Malone secured him for €82,000 and he will head to England.
The agent said afterwards: “He’s a winner on the flat and placed second over hurdles. He’s a scopey horse and, even if he’s not the prettiest, he’s efficient, and that’s all we need. I have spoken to several of my clients and it’s not going to be difficult to find him an owner.”
The next Auctav Sale will be held online on Wednesday, September 29th.
