BEATEN a head by Blue Point and Hello Youmzain in the two most recent editions of the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes, only the cold-hearted would have begrudged Dream Of Dreams his Group 1 success in the Haydock Park Sprint Cup at the weekend. Bred in Ireland by Prostock Ltd, Dream Of Dreams was sold as a foal for 37,000gns and now, with seven victories under his belt, he has amassed some £525,000 in earnings.

He has also credited the former Ballylinch Stud, now Haras de Grandchamp-based, stallion Dream Ahead (Diktat) with his fourth Group 1 winner, joining the speedsters Donjuan Triumphant and Glass Slippers, as well as the Prix Jacques Le Marois hero Al Wukair.

One of the best runners of his generation at two and three, Dream Ahead himself won the Haydock Sprint Cup in 2011, adding to triumphs in the July Cup and Prix de l’Abbaye the same year and following juvenile wins in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and Prix Morny.

His sixth crop are two-year-olds and they are the first conceived in France. He has a total of 11 group winners, three in the southern hemisphere, and almost twice as many listed winners.

Now responsible for five winners, including the Group 2 placed Silverheels (Verglas) and the stakes-placed Lasilia (Acclamation), Dream Of Dreams’ unraced dam Vasilia (Dansili) has been upgraded in recent years and has a two-year-old colt Fantastic Fox (Frankel) and a yearling filly by Galileo (Sadler’s Wells). Vasilia is a half-sister to two Group 1 winners, Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Jwala (Oasis Dream) and Airwave (Air Express).

Airwave won the Cheveley Park Stakes and at stud is responsible for three stakes winners to date. They include Meow (Storm Cat) and she has enhanced the pedigree further by producing two champions in Churchill (Galileo) and Clemmie (Galileo), winners of five Group 1 races between them.
