CHARES goes under the hammer tonight at the Arqana Arc Sale in Paris following his third win in an unbeaten career at two. Last weekend he added the Listed Criterium de Lyon over a mile to a pair of seven-furlong successes at La Teste and Dax. Born in Germany, he is a son of Ivawood who stood for just €5,000 this year at Castlehyde Stud.

The first stakes winner for his sire, Chares is one of 12 winners in the first crop of the son of Zebedee (Invincible Spirit). On the female side Ivawood’s grandam is the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera heroine Kinnaird (Dr Devious), while the multiple Group 1 winner Laurens (Siyouni) and Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas runner-up Shifting Power (Compton Place) feature on the pedigree page.

Ivawood won the Group 2 July Stakes and Group 2 Richmond Stakes, before being beaten a whisker in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes as a juvenile. He returned at three to finish third in both the Group 1 Irish and English 2000 Guineas.

Chares is the fourth foal and winner for his dam Coco Demure (Titus Livius) who was a listed winner at two in Italy. Her fifth progeny is a yearling filly by Maxios (Monsun).
