TOM Gaffney’s Churchtown House Stud is selling a daughter of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) and the Group 3 winner Wannabe Better, a daughter of Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill), as Lot 110 in Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale. She is the third foal of her dam, and last year the filly’s full-sister, now named Propriety, sold at the same venue for 1,200,000gns to Cheveley Park Stud.
Since then the pedigree has received a significant update, the first foal out of Wannebe Better landing a stakes win at Killarney. The filly in question, Lady Wannabe, is one of 20 stakes winners in the first two crops of her sire Camelot (Montjeu), the 2012 2000 Guineas winner who went on to land the Derby at Epsom and the Irish Derby, but just failed to become a Triple Crown winner.
Wannebe Better is one of four stakes winners from Wannabe (Shirley Heights), a dual winner in France. While many of the runners in this family seem to be better with age, Wannebe Better’s three-parts sister, her sibling Wannebe Grande (Danehill), gained her most important victory at two when winning the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. At three she was runner-up in the Group 1 1000 Guineas.
