JOHN Oxx trains Shringara, a three-year-old daughter of Dansili (Danehill), for Ann Marshall and the filly was bred at Hamwood Stud by Frank Dunne. She won at the second time of asking at Killarney this week and hopefully the Currabeg master will work the oracle and get her some blacktype before she eventually goes to the breeding shed. She comes from a family that Ann and Frank have had great success with at their farm near Dunboyne.

Shringara joins Kamili (Invincible Spirit) as a winning daughter of Shreyas. That daughter of Dalakhani (Darshaan) won four times in the Marshall colours when trained by Jim Bolger. Three wins were in stakes company, the Group 3 D.C. Lavarack and Lanwades Stud Stakes at Gowran Park and a pair of listed races at Leopardstown.

Shreyas is one of three stakes winners from the Sadler’s Wells (Norther Dancer) mare Sadima and the other pair won at Group 1 level. They are Youmzain (Sinndar) and Creachadoir (King’s Best), both well bought as yearlings.

Youmzain was sold for only 30,000gns to Gill Richardson and trained by Mick Channon. He won six of his 32 races, gaining well merited Group 1 successes in the Preis von Europe at three and in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud as a five-year-old.

He amassed winnings of £3.4 million and was famously runner-up in the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on three successive occasions. He is now a Group 1 sire.

Creachadoir was bought by Jim Bolger and John Corcoran as a yearling for €83,000 and was runner-up in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Irish equivalent at the Curragh. He then joined Saeed bin Suroor and as a four-year-old won the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes. He has made little impact at stud.

This is a family that descends from a well-known Ballymacoll Stud line and it is interesting to know that the world-famous nursery, situated beside Hamwood Stud, was purchased last year by Frank Dunne.
