WILLIE Browne’s private purchase of a yearling filly by Showcasing (Oasis Dream) and the dual winner Frangipanni (Dansili) in Book 2 of the Tattersalls Yearling Sale last year was rewarded when she sold for €180,000 to Charlie Gordon-Watson in May this year at Arqana.
Named Tropbeau, the Lord Margadale-bred, Lady Bamford-owned and Andre Fabre-trained juvenile filly is now winner of three of her four starts and they include a pair of group races at Deauville, firstly the Group 3 Prix Six Perfections-Sky and now the Group 2 Shadwell Prix du Calvados. Once again, her wins have been timely for her breeder who will offer a yearling half-brother by Iffraaj (Zafonic) at Tattersalls in October.
The yearling is his dam’s third produce (the first died as a yearling) and he is followed by a colt foal by Postponed (Dubawi). Frangipanni was a bargain purchase now by Anthony Stroud for 78,000gns as a three-year-old after she won a pair of races in the colours Lady Rothschild.
She is one of five winners from the Group 1 Darley July Cup winner Frizzante (Efisio) who then sold for 500,000gns as a potential broodmare. Ten years later her value plummeted to 60,000gns.
