KITTY Rose won her first two starts last season, notably beating Content by two and a half lengths in the Listed Ballylinch Stud Ingabelle Stakes at Leopardstown. On her final star, Content reversed places in the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes, with this week’s pattern winner Brilliant and now 1000 Guineas hope nearly three lengths behind her. Connections are hoping Kitty Rose can develop into a classic contender herself. .
Trained by Natalia Lupini, Kitty Rose was one of a dozen juvenile winners in the first crop of Invincible Army, and that number has grown substantially already in 2024. The Yeomanstown Stud sire looks set for a successful season ahead, and breeders can access him this year for only €5,000, half of the fee he commanded on his retirement.
Invincible Army is by a renowned sire of successful stallions, out of a Group 1 winner, and had a track career that brought him pattern success in each of three seasons. He was short-headed by Masar on his debut over six furlongs at Goodwood, ran away with a novice race at Newmarket and went on to take the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton. He chased home James Garfield in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes, Sands Of Mali in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes and Havana Grey in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes that year.
At three Invincible Army beat the Group 1-scorer Eqtidaar in the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot before being short-headed by Sands Of Mali in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock in a shortened season. He was third to Fairyland in the Group 1 Flying Five and fourth to Glass Slippers in the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at four, but won three races.
He landed the Listed Cammidge Trophy Stakes at Doncaster, the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes and Newcastle’s Group 3 Chipchase Stakes.
A stallion career was inevitable. Invincible Army is a son of the Irish National Stud’s leading international sire Invincible Spirit (Green Desert), the Group 1-winning sprinter who is responsible for the established multiple Group 1 sires I Am Invincible, Kingman and Lawman, amongst many others.
Invincible Army is out of the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner Rajeem (Diktat), and he is an own-brother to the stakes winner New York City (Invincible Spirit). Rajeem’s dam is a full-sister to the ill-fated Prix Morny heroine, July Cup third and 1000 Guineas fourth Hoh Magic (Cadeaux Genereux).
