THE champion three-year-old sprinter in Europe in 2015 with four Group 1 victories that season, Muhaarar has made a good start to his stud career in his first two seasons with runners and he is well worth his fee of £10,000 at Sheikh Hamdan’s Nunnery Stud in Norfolk.
He has already sired some 70 individual winners of over £1,000,000 in prize money, including the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes hero Mujbar, and also Paix who scored in the Group 3 Prix de Lutece at Longchamp as well as a listed race at Vichy.
Muhaarar has also sired seven others who were placed in group or listed events, among them Baradar, third in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy, Albaflora, second in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes, and Unforgettable who was sold for 320,000gns at the December Sales. Alba Rose and Giuliana were also group-placed.
Yearlings by Muhaarar have been in strong demand each year, bringing prices of €210,000 and €200,000 last year, with an average price of over 40,000gns.
Muhaarar is one of the best sons of Oasis Dream, who like him was a European champion sprinter and also scored in the Group 1 July Cup. A son of Green Desert, Oasis Dream has sired over 120 blacktype winners, 17 of them at Group 1 level, including Charming Thought and Midday, and also Group 2 star Showcasing.
Muhaarar is a half-brother to six winners, among them the listed scorer Sajwah, while their dam Tahrir was listed placed and is an own-sister to French star Mister Charm, who earned £258,296.
As a two-year-old Muhaarar made a winning debut at Doncaster by four lengths, before adding the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York, beating Jungle Cat. He was never out of the first three in five starts that season, including third to Ivawood in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket and third to Charming Thought and Ivawood in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes.
Muhaarar took his revenge on Ivawood early in 2015 when he won the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury in record time.
Going on to Royal Ascot, he easily defeated Limato in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, then added the Group 1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket.
A trip to Deauville in August brought him another important success in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, before a fourth consecutive Group 1 victory in the British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot, ahead of Twilight Son. At the end of that season Muhaarar was rated on 132 by Timeform, second only to Golden Horn.
