TRAINER Jamie Osborne has recently made national news, but not for the reason you might expect. His whippet Bobby, who is one of Osborne’s six dogs, took off uncontrollably up the gallop at Upper Lambourn and joined the racehorses exercising.

The video of Bobby has now been viewed over five million times and has increased Osborne’s social media following no-end. Subsequently, one of his two Irish Water Spaniels, Bridget, decided she would join in the fun and jumped out of the jeep to join the horses galloping.

Osborne admits that his family have questioned the impact sharing these videos will have on the business but he insists that it will be good for business.

Adamant to make the most of recent publicity Osborne is planning to launch his new ‘Bad Bobby’ dog rug range. He said: “The range caters for every dog from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.” The specially designed Whitney type blankets will be available online at the beginning of autumn.

Social media stars

Dogs are a very important part of life for Osborne and although his misbehaving dogs have rose to social media stardom, his other dogs are much more mannerly. Osborne explained how they didn’t plan on having a total of six dogs it just ended up that way.

Osborne and his wife Katie have four children, they decided that it would be a good idea for each of their children to have a dog each to look after. To keep things simple they decided that each of the dogs would have a name beginning with ‘B’, this was something their three boys all stuck to Introduce their two Irish Water Spaniels Bridget and Billy, Jack Russel Beanie, and Whippet Bobby.

However, their daughter Saffie, decided to go against their ‘B’ rule and name her Jack Russel Cookie.

Their sixth dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier called Maggie. Maggie previously belonged to Osborne’s mother-in-law and when she passed away Maggie was left looking for a new home so Osborne and his family happily took her in.

Osborne considers himself very lucky that he can bring his dogs to work and although they are not always perfectly behaved he said that they are great company, especially during the winter months.

“At the heart of it we are all animal lovers,” he concluded.
