MABS Cross has been bought privately by Qatar Racing Ltd, and her first visit in 2020 will be to Zoustar.
Unsold at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, a deal has subsequently been agreed with owner breeders David and Emma Armstrong, and she will reside at David Redvers’ Tweenhills Stud.
The highlight of the mare’s racing career came when winning the 2018 Prix de l’Abbaye – while she was also beaten a nose by Alpha Delphini in the Nunthorpe at York earlier that season.
Zoustar was also a Group 1 winning sprinter in Australia, and champion first-season sire Down Under.
“It’s really thrilling to acquire a mare of Mabs Cross’ quality, and her purchase is another example of the complete faith we have in the Australian phenomenon that is Zoustar,” Redvers told www.qatarracingltd.com
“She adds to our exciting portfolio of high-class racemares and further demonstrates the commitment Sheikh Fahad and his brothers have to breeding top-class thoroughbreds.”
Qatar has also bought potential broodmares Good Vibes and Orlaith, who will both race on in 2020.
Good Vibes, a Group 3 winner, is set to become Qatar Racing’s first horse with Mabs Cross’ former trainer Michael Dods.
