PONT Aven, the Willie Mullins-trained chaser who has twice been placed in Grade 1 company and has a current rating of 139, is among 20 supplementary entries for next Wednesday’s Goffs UK September Sale in Doncaster.

This sale is best known for its annual draft from Gigginstown House Stud. Owner Michael O’Leary is sending 42 horses to next week’s sale, headed by dual Grade 1 winner Battleoverdoyen.

The sale will commmence at 10am and the 20 supplementary entries have taken the total offering to 185 lots.

Along with Battleoverdoyen, the Gigginstown dispersal includes Grade 2 winners Cracking Smart, Dounikos, Eclair De Beaufeu and Mortal, as well as recent winners and stakes performers Asserted, Choungaya, Forged In Fire, Lignou, Star Max and The Very Man.

The sale will also offer drafts from Alan King, Amy Murphy, Brian Ellison, Ben Pauling, Brian Meehan, Charlie Longsdon, Cullentra House Stables, Dan Skelton, David Barron, Denis Hogan, Ed Dunlop, Eoin Doyle, Gleadhill House Stud, Harry Fry, Iain Jardine, Jonjo O’Neill, Karl Burke, Mark Johnston, Michael Dods, Mick Appleby, Micky Hammond, Mill House Stud, Nigel Hawke, Nigel Twiston-Davies, Oliver Sherwood, Philip Hobbs, Philip Rothwell, Rebecca Menzies, Richard Fahey, Richard Newland, Stuart Crawford, Tom George and Willie Mullins.

Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said: “This sale has become synonymous with the annual Gigginstown House Stud dispersal which once again headlines with a large draft featuring some household names and we are very grateful to the Gigginstown team for entrusting their draft to Goffs and this sale.

“Goffs UK horses-in-training graduates are having a strong year on the track headlined by the Grade 1 winners Ahoy Senor, who impressively captured the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree’s Grand National Festival, and Stormy Ireland, who was sold via Goffs Online, and subsequently won the Grade 1 Mares’ Champion Hurdle at Punchestown.

“With other graduates such as 2021 Cheltenham Festival winners Tiger Roll and Sky Pirate, Goffs UK HIT sales continue to demonstrate their ability to produce horses that win at the highest level and the September HIT Sale catalogue looks well placed to continue that appeal.”
