ANOTHER Story stretched her unbeaten record to three with a comprehensive victory in the matthews.ie Race at Dundalk.

Successful on debut in November 2015 before returning here to land a handicap last May, Sheila Lavery's filly hadn't been seen since but that didn't stop punters backing her down to 5/4 favouritism. She travelled sweetly in third for Pat Smullen, who was completing a double, and showed a decent change of gear to come a length and three-quarters clear of Red Avenger.

The race was a Fast-Track Qualifier for All-Weather Championships Finals Day, and Lavery said: "I'm delighted. I've always thought a massive amount of this filly. I'm not sure if I'll go to Lingfield with her as the track might not suit. I've spent a long time getting her correct so I'll pick her races.

"I'll pick a listed race and try and go from that, and look for good ground. It's taken so long to get her right. She was in work, this race came up and I thought I'd run her and see where we are.

"She was getting very fresh at home so I said I'd run her. It wasn't a major plan to get her ready for it but she was getting herself ready. Now I can back off her and give her a bit more time again. She won over six as a two-year-old but I knew she wasn't a six-furlong filly. It was just the race that came up.

"Ronan (Whelan) always thought she'd be a miler. I feel very sorry for Ronan (who is serving a suspension) but I had a very able sub in Pat."

ORR DOUBLE

Specific Gravity's victory in the Weatherbys GSB Rated Race was the highlight of a double for Oisin Orr.

Such a good moneyspinner for Ado McGuinness this winter, the 10/1 shot made his move early in the straight, with old rival Udogo going with him. Little separated them until Specific Gravity found that little bit extra in the final 100 yards and got the nod by three-quarters of a length, with Duchessofflorence snatching second from Udogo.

"He gave him a great ride. We thought there was going to be plenty of pace so we dropped out and took our time," said McGuinness.

"He was tracking Wayne (Lordan on Song Of Love) a lot of the way and the gaps opened up brilliant. I thought he got out a little bit early but it was perfect. The horse has been a revelation around here this year. I don't know why but he is.

"We have him entered in the Lincoln. We probably won't go - it depends what way the ground is. He's on form and we'll just tip away here. He's probably going to go up a bit now and we might even look at Lingfield."

The Paul Flynn-trained Try Again has also been a revelation this year and completed a hat-trick with a determined victory under Orr in the Fastfix Apprentice Handicap at odds of 3/1.

FOLEY DOUBLE

Allography confirmed his recent superiority over Sir Danilo and Memorial Rose in the Elusive Pimpernel Maiden.

The 4/6 favourite had Sir Danilo in third and Memorial Rose back in fifth when runner-up here three weeks ago, and went one better by a length and three-quarters from Sir Danilo, with Memorial Rose third.

Allography completed a double for Shane Foley, who was returning from a spell in Japan.

Trainer Michael Halford said: "It's nice to win with him. His form entitled him to win and he done it. They went good and hard, he got towed into the race nicely and picked up and won well. It's good to have Shane back in good form as well.

"He [Allography] loves that surface so we'll see if we can find something else for him here or else we'll wait for the grass to dry out a bit. He's a lovely straightforward horse.

"The handicapper mightn't stir him a whole lot as the horse that was second tonight, he beat him further the last night. He's a nice horse, he's tough, and he'll probably step up in trip in time."

Foley's brace was initiated by 6/1 chance Ken's Sam's in the Kennedy's Bar, Dundalk Handicap (Div 2), with Strategic Heights (7/2 joint-favourite) pipping market rival Red All Star in a thrilling finish to the first instalment.

ONE-TWO

Patrick Prendergast saddled the first two home in the Elusive Pimpernel Claiming Maiden.

Hailstone was the 11/8 favourite but looked in trouble when stablemate Brave Display still held a clear advantage entering the final furlong. He began to tread water, though, and Hailstone eventually got on top for Smullen to get the verdict by half a length.

"It's a good result as he's broken his duck. He wasn't going to win a handicap off 75 as my other horse who was second is a 55 and they are about the same at home," said Prendergast.

"That's why these claimers are important when you are in handicap wilderness. It was a Plus 10 bonus and he's a home-bred so it's great to win a maiden. These maiden claimers are a good concept.

"The second horse ran very well. In a handicap he'd be getting 20lb."

Free State (4/1) showed his appreciation for the step back up to a mile and a half by landing the Windsor Bar & Restaurant, Dundalk Handicap for Denis Hogan and Gary Halpin.
