Sir,

I attach a photograph of my triplet grandchildren Pippa, Hannah and Harry enjoying the playground area at the Oaks meeting on the Curragh last Saturday.

I have to say that while the racing and the new facility were a joy to attend, the activities laid on for children in both the Kids Zone and playground were a credit to all involved. They are a tremendous idea to encourage young families to go racing and enjoy a fabulous day out for all.

Well done to all at the new Curragh. Little initiatives like these can play a huge part in attracting families in my view.

Yours,

Sir,

As we now enter into a new era for the Curragh racecourse, in my view the investment into the reopening of the train platform at the track must be given serious consideration. The additional cost should not be insurmountable given what has been invested to date.

We live in a time where events are judged by the feel of the experience, and it can be difficult to get a second chance. By providing a transport method which is both convenient, and also recognised as being sustainable, the Curragh could make a significant stride in being more relevant to both the existing and a new audience.

Yours,

David O’Brien
