5yo b h (5/513009-3)

Heart’s Cry - Fluff

He was third in Saudi Arabia last month and might be our only runner at Meydan on World Cup night. He goes for the two-mile race [the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup].

Diego Velazquez

4yo b c (116-48011)

Frankel - Sweepstake

He’s going to be trained for the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and will have a run or two beforehand. He’s in good shape.

Jan Brueghel

4yo b c (1111-)

Galileo - Devoted To You

Where’s he going to fit in? He’s very well, has done very well and is working very well but he’s going to have to stand in line with Kyprios, I’d imagine. None of them are going to want to take him on. I thought he could go to Ascot for the Gold Cup, or the Hardwicke, with a run before. If Kyprios is there in the Gold Cup, there’s probably no point in any of ours running against him. I would imagine he’s a mile-and-a-half-plus horse.

Kyprios

7yo ch h (2/1111111-)

Galileo - Polished Gem

He’s back and in great shape. The plan is to go back to the Gold Cup at Ascot with two runs at Navan and Leopardstown before it. Then everything else can fall into line after that. Everything is very good with him at the moment, he’s very comfortable. He’s an incredible horse, really. He goes forward, parks himself in second gear and goes to sleep. He’s always been like that at home, even when he was a two-year-old. His personality is the very same still. Ryan [Moore] rides him great.

Los Angeles

4yo bb c (1/1311439-)

Camelot - Frequential

We’re very happy with him. His first target of the season is probably going to be the Tattersalls Gold Cup, possibly with a run before it, and then we’ll keep him for the Arc.

We felt it didn’t suit him making the running last year in that race. Being a year older, with things maybe happening a little differently for him, we think he’s a very legitimate horse for the Arc this time around. He’s a big, hardy, powerful boy.

Storm Boy

3yo b c (1/11341348-)

Justify - Pelican

We’re very happy with him; he’s fast. Before he came [from Australia], I didn’t know if he was one for six, seven or eight furlongs as a type but there’s no doubt he’s a sprinter. He wants to go fast and is quick - a big, powerful horse. I’d imagine he’ll have one run before Ascot, hopefully the ground will be nice for him. He’s very quick and you’d be very happy with everything he’s doing at the moment.

Tower Of London

5yo b h (1249/1151-)

Galileo - Dialafara

He’s in good shape and working well. He was at the Curragh last weekend and we were very happy. We’re thinking of going to France for the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier [at ParisLongchamp], which is now a Group 1 over just shy of two miles after a programme change. He could go there rather than running into Kyprios at home.

Three-year-olds

Ballet Slippers

3yo ch f (3213-)

Dubawi - Magical

A lovely filly who had a nice run at the Curragh in August when second to Falling Snow - Donnacha [O’Brien] loves that filly who beat us. We were going back to France with her for the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud over a mile and a quarter last season but she got injured and didn’t run. She’s back and is being trained for the Oaks.

Bedtime Story

3yo b f (111155-)

Frankel - Mecca’s Angel

She’s good but a little highly-strung, a bit like her sister, Content. She tries to do too much. I would imagine her next run will have her as second or third string, and there’ll be no pressure on her. Whoever rides her can try to switch her off and see what will happen. She was a very quick learner at Royal Ascot who probably wanted to overdo things, and she was a bit too keen on her two runs after. We thought Content wouldn’t stay a mile and a half, but she did, so there’s probably every chance this filly will too.

Bubbling

3yo b f (4131-)

No Nay Never - Lumiere Noire

A No Nay Never filly who could get a mile; most of them don’t but it looks like it might be within her compass so she’s probably a Guineas filly as well. She’s already a Group 2 winner of the Rockfel Stakes on her last start.

Camille Pissaro

3yo br c (1202621-)

Wootton Bassett - Entreat

We always thought was very good but he didn’t win a Group 1 until late in the season so I’d say we got it wrong with him. He’s a fast horse. We think a mile is as far as he’ll want to go and he’d have to be ridden to get a mile. Christophe [Soumillon] was very impressed with him when winning the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. He’s a possible for the Guineas, he could be a second string.

Delacroix

3yo b c (21212-)

Dubawi - Tepin

He’s very well and was at the Curragh doing a bit of work recently too. We view him as a middle-distance horse. I’d imagine he’ll start in one of the trials, with a view to being a Derby horse.

Dreamy

3yo b f (114-)

American Pharoah - Tapestry

She’s not quick enough for a Guineas but she’s an Oaks filly - that’s why we ran her in the Fillies’ Mile [when fourth], just to see. She’ll prefer going a mile and a half. She’s a lovely, big filly who has done very well and will like nice ground.

Exactly

3yo ch f (9122331-)

Frankel - Heartache

She’s going very well - she’s a very good filly. She could run in a Guineas in England or France. She’s very straightforward; you can ride her up there. She’s working great and was very good the last day in the Killavullan Stakes. We made too much use of her in the Boussac prior to that when I probably should have told Christophe [Soumillon] to be a little more reserved with her. She’s very smart.

Expanded

3yo b c (12-)

Wootton Bassett - Jigsaw

What himself and Twain did last year was quite unusual. They both came out late, then a few days later were back out in Group 1s. Poor Expanded got a bit of a raw deal because he was going into the Dewhurst for experience as a second string behind The Lion In Winter, but then The Lion In Winter didn’t run and he got put in the front line, so that was massive. He looks like he’s going to stay. I thought had an incredible run in the Dewhurst.

Giselle

3yo b f (213-)

Frankel - Newspaperofrecord

A good filly who we haven’t seen the best of yet. She had a few little hold-ups but is back was away at the Curragh recently. We’re looking at her as an Oaks filly with a trial before. She’s difficult, headstrong, always wanting to do a little more than you want her to, but she’s big, powerful and strong - she can maul a rider. She’s a big mare.

Henri Matisse

3yo b c (111251-)

Wootton Bassett - Immortal Verse

A fast horse who likes fast ground and likes to come late. I’m very happy with him. I put blinkers on him in bad ground in France last season and he got a bad bump early and got frightened, but then he went on to win very well at the Breeders’ Cup.

What he did there is a very difficult thing to do, coming from a bad draw and a long way back and he still got there easily. I don’t think Ryan hit him. He’s a horse with a lot of ability. A very good mover, I’d say we wouldn’t be in a rush to go on soft ground with him again.

Lake Victoria

3yo b f (11111-)

Frankel - Quiet Reflection

She’s good. She had a long break; longer than the others because her year went very long last season. She was at the Curragh last weekend as well and went nice but it was on an easy piece of work. I’m not sure if she’ll make the Guineas but we’re training her for it.

If she didn’t get there, she would go for the Athasi Stakes the day after at the Curragh, if she didn’t come in time. We’d do that with a view to going back for the Irish Guineas and maybe Royal Ascot. Knowing her, she probably will come in time [for Newmarket] because she’s that type of filly.

Lord Byron

3yo b c (5-)

Camelot - Shamooda

A staying horse who will want a trip. He was green on debut at Punchestown [when fifth in September] but came home well and is probably going to want a mile and a half plus.

Minnie Hauk

3yo b f (21-)

Frankel - Multilingual

Second on debut at Cork before winning at Leopardstown, she has improved a lot. I’d say she’s a mile-and-a-half filly, an Oaks trial-Oaks type. She has done very well physically.

Takemetothemoon

3yo b f (35-)

Uncle Mo - Together Forever

A three-year-old who is a half-sister to City Of Troy. She’s a lovely-moving filly, and will get a mile and a quarter well. She looks like a stakes filly.

Stay True

3yo b c (unraced)

Galileo - Bounce

This is a nice Galileo who hasn’t run yet. I think he’s the last one by Galileo with us. He’s a smart maiden. He’s not far away from a run.

Whistlejacket

3yo b c (21412125-)

No Nay Never - Adventure Seeker

The Commonwealth Cup is what we’re thinking. He’s a fast horse, no doubt. Six furlongs is his trip. He’s already been away to the Curragh and worked well.

The Lion In Winter

3yo b c (11-)

Sea The Stars - What A Home

He’s in good shape but took a little bit of time to come right so he’s a little bit behind the others. We took him to the Curragh last weekend and he went well, the work was easy that he did.

Whether he’ll make it in time for the Guineas or not, I’m not sure. We’ll know in the next week or so, but if he doesn’t, he might be trained for something like the Dante and go straight to the Derby; something like that.

We’ll take him away again to work. There has to be a doubt about the Guineas but he’s very well; he’s just carrying plenty of condition so he might not make it. In the next couple of weeks we’ll know. He wouldn’t have time for a run before the Guineas if he went there.

Twain

3yo b c (11-)

Wootton Bassett - Wading

Like it was with Expanded, what he did last year was quite unusual, to essentially go from his maiden to a Group 1 within a week last autumn. He has done very well physically. The ground ended up on the soft side for both of his runs but he’ll have no problem with good ground. He looks a very, very good horse. He looks like he’ll have no problem with a mile and has a good chance of getting a mile and a quarter well. If he gets a mile and a quarter, he’ll get the Derby trip. He’s got the pedigree and the physique. What he did last year… We were only giving him a run last year, getting him out. We try to get them out for everyone to get a look at him, and he won by six lengths on bad ground at Leopardstown. Ryan said he was as green as grass shortly after when winning a Group 1 in France. He just got held up in the queue in terms of how he got out last season. I’d say we must have run 90% of our two-year-olds last year; they were just coming and coming. Thinking back on why he only got out at the time he did, he’s from the Galileo pedigree so I’d probably not been focussing on him too early, to give him a chance.

Aidan on…

His Guineas teams

I’m not sure if Lake Victoria will make it for the 1000 Guineas but we’ll have to see as she does come quickly once she starts to come. As for the colts, The Lion In Winter was away last weekend and I don’t think he’ll be there in time for the 2000 Guineas, though that’s not to say he won’t be. Twain could go.

We’re very happy with him and he’s doing everything right as a Group 1 winner. Camille Pissaro could go there as a second-string with him. Expanded got beaten a neck in the Dewhurst so he isn’t a group-race winner. If he didn’t go there, he could go to the Tetrarch Stakes to get started at the Curragh on the Monday after Newmarket.

With Henri Matisse, we’ll see about the ground but he could go to France and would like going around a bend if the ground was nice (runs tomorrow). That could all change. It’s just how we’re thinking at the moment.

We’ll run second or third strings wherever we feel they should fit in. If we were dividing them up, Expanded could go to the Curragh for the Tetrarch Stakes on the way to the Irish Guineas and Twain could go to the English Guineas. That’s the way we’re thinking; all those things can change. At the moment that is what could happen.

Early impressions of

his two-year-old teams

We haven’t named these horses yet; Sue [Magnier] will put good names on the good horses in the coming weeks.

Ones who could be worth keeping an eye out for are a St Mark’s Basilica colt out of Step Sequence, a No Nay Never colt out of Muirin and a Wootton Bassett colt out of Yet. I’ll also mention a Wootton Bassett out of Hence, a Starspangledbanner colt out of Mosa Mine, a St Mark’s Basilica colt out of Willow and another St Mark’s Basilica colt out of Archangel Gabriel who is a fast horse too.

I don’t know which of them is best at this stage, but the Wootton Bassett colt out of Yet just looks a bit different at the moment, though it is early days.

There’s a Dubawi out of Together Forever, making her a half-sister to City Of Troy. She’s nice, a beautiful mover. Like himself, she’s all action.

Wootton Bassett

He’s obviously a freak. We had four Group 1 horses by him last year as two-year-olds, Twain, Expanded, Camille Pisarro, Henri Matisse, and Joseph [O’Brien] had another. Obviously over the next few years the pedigrees can get better too as people continue to send mares to him on the back of what he’s done.

It’s always important that when horses are good at two that they’re good at three. Really, going to stud, they have to be good at two and three. There’s nothing to suggest they won’t be able to do that - Twain looks a very good horse who should have a chance of staying further than a mile.

Expanded is similar. Camille Pissaro and Henri Matisse are fast horses. It’s unusual.

Justify

His progeny are very genuine and tend to be good movers. They have no problem getting middle distances.

I always think horses by Justify are like Galileo horses with a bit more speed. When they move that well, they have to prefer nice ground. They’re classic horses who aren’t limited in trip. They’re often big, like himself.

This time of year

It’s a very exciting time because anything can happen with so many different horses in so many different ways. It’s to get them started is the thing. We feel the horses have a good level of fitness at the moment but none of them are tuned up in any way.

They could go racing at the moment and might well get beaten because they mightn’t wake up but it’s exciting to get everything going. We didn’t think they would come into form until late April and early May; hopefully they’ll keep progressing.
