You’ve had plenty of Cheltenham Festival success as an owner and joint-owner already. How does a Cheltenham winner compare to having one elsewhere?

It’s like winning an Olympic gold medal. The whole National Hunt season is geared around this four-day event where the best horses will be 100% and ready to go. It’s what everyone is in the sport for.

Which of the four days of the Festival is your favourite?

My favourite race is the Champion Hurdle and the way the Tuesday kicks off with the best two mile novices in Britain and Ireland facing off in the Supreme makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. My favourite day - categorically Tuesday.

If you could own one other horse running at this year’s Festival, who would it be?

Concertista. If there wasn’t a mares’ race, I’m certain she’d run in the Champion Hurdle. It took a while for the penny to drop with her, but her win last year in the mares’ novice was incredibly impressive.

She rubbished quality mares and her turn of foot was electric. I thought it was a flash in the pan, but she has seriously upped her game again this season. She’s mustard. She’ll win anything she turns up in.

If you could make one change to the meeting, what would it be and why?

I wouldn’t have any mares’ races at the Festival. They get a 7lb allowance against the boys so why do they need their own division? It stops some jaw-dropping match-ups.

Of your horses running at this year’s Festival, which one excites you the most?

Bravemansgame. He’s a Grade 1 winner and his record speaks for itself. Scarily, he’ll be a far better chaser than he will be a hurdler.
