A COUPLE of horses to note from the early part of the week. Global Citizen ran well in the Arkle.

He was held up and keen and he made a couple of mistakes and he was fairly badly hampered when Maire Banrigh fell at the fourth last fence.

Yet he made ground on the run down the hill to move in behind the leaders as they rounded the home turn. He tired on the run-in, but it was still a fine run. He will be better on better ground and racing prominently again. That was his first run since Christmas, and it was just his third chase, so he should progress from it.

He will be very interesting if he runs in the Maghull Chase at Aintree.

The Glancing Queen missed the kick from the standing start in the Champion Bumper, and she was always playing catch-up thereafter.

Wider than ideal throughout, she made good ground on the run down the hill, but she tired in the home straight.

This was her seasonal debut, her first run since she won the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree last year, and she will be of interest next time, probably back at Aintree.
