Embittered
(J.P. O’Brien)
Leopardstown February 1st
After beginning his season with a defeat of Blackbow in a Naas maiden, this gelding then struggled in two outings at Grade 1 level. However, he showed plenty of promise when switched to handicap company last weekend by running a very creditable sixth to Thosedaysaregone in the Ladbroke Hurdle.
He was beaten by just four lengths on only his fourth start over hurdles and showed that he could make his mark in a big handicap before the end of the campaign.
Eglantine Du Seuil
(W.P. Mullins)
Leopardstown February 1st
A winner of the Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham last year, she produced her best effort of the season by running a close fourth in the Ladbroke.
She was beaten by less than two lengths and was conceding over a stone to the three that finished in front of her, and she could be the type to play a leading role in a race like the County Hurdle, if pointed in that direction.
Strange Notions

Leopardstown February 2nd
This mare followed two decent runs at Fairyhouse with a creditable fifth in the handicap won by Black Tears. She should have no trouble making her mark over hurdles and can surely exploit a rating of 53 on the flat when her attentions are turned back to that sphere.
At The Acorn

He had to settle for sixth when favourite for the handicap chase won by Glamorgan Duke but his finishing position doesn’t reflect the merit of his effort as he was badly hampered by a faller at the second last fence. A good handicap remains within his reach.
Politesse
(Mrs L Fowler)
Leopardstown February 2nd
This Beat Hollow mare was well backed to show up well in a Grade 2 last Sunday and she justified that support by running a fine second to Darling Daughter.
This effort confirmed the merit of her debut third to Longhouse Poet at the Punchestown Festival last May and she could make her mark in a good mares’ bumper before the end of the season.
