McMenamin honoured at Downpatrick

THE first race at Downpatrick tomorrow has been named the ‘Congratulating Downpatrick’s Daniel McMenamin Mares Maiden Hurdle’ and the British champion conditional jockey will be on hand to present the prize.

At time of writing, McMenamin, whose breeches now publicise the Downpatrick firm, CosyRoof, was hoping to secure a ride during the afternoon.

Call for Hunter Certificates

OWNERS and handlers of point-to-point horses are reminded that if they wish to have a runner at the Mid Antrim meeting in Toomebridge on Saturday, October 2nd, they must lodge the relevant hunters’ certificates at the offices of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board no later than close of business on Monday, September 13th.

Three further fixtures are scheduled for October – the Iveaghs at Moira (9th), the Route at Portrush (16th) and the East Antrim at Loughanmore (23rd). Following a short break, the action will resume at Loughbrickland on Saturday, November 13th with the North Downs rounding off the regional autumn season a week later at Kirkistown.
