THE upcoming Goffs London Sale on June 13th will see an extra special item being added as John Osborne, chief executive of the Irish National Stud, recently outlined. A sculpture of Be My Guest will be auctioned in aid of the Naughton Family Trust of which John is trustee.
Be My Guest topped the first Goffs yearling sale in the current premises at Kill, Co Kildare in 1975. The Moyglare-bred son of Northern Dancer ran for Robert Sangster and Vincent O’Brien winning the Waterford Crystal Mile at Goodwood, the Blue Riband Trial and the Desmond Stakes. He retired to Coolmore and became a champion sire.
American artist Rhonda Shearer created three full size sculptures for Moyglare, Goffs and Coolmore. Ten replicas of the sculpture were commissioned including this one which will be auctioned at the Goffs London Sale. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the Naughton Family Trust set up in memory of David Naughton who tragically passed away last year.
The Naughton Family Trust will also host a night at Henlow Greyhound Stadium in Britain on May 29th. As part of the fundraising efforts, an online auction has been set up and there is a Dragon Pulse 2017 nomination available as well as a trip to Tom Dascombe’s yard and other fantastic items.
