NEXT Wednesday in the middle of race week at the g Hotel, Galwqy a fundraising event for Irish Injured Jockeys and their families will take place in memory of renowned jockey John Thomas McNamara who passed away last year.

Hector Ó hEochagáin will MC the evening and a host of amazing prizes have been donated and will be part of a raffle on the evening with James Heaslip auctioning the top prizes.

Now’s your chance to dig deep kicking off at 8pm on Wednesday and the €10 entry will be donated to the Irish Injured Jockeys fund. Prizes include: a VIP day for two guests at the Longines Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh, return flights for two to Stockholm, a couture headpiece by Brid O’Driscoll Millinery, a VIP tour of the newly revamped Jameson Distillery followed by a whiskey tasting, a BMW M2 Driving Experience for 1 at Mondello Park in Kildare worth €179, four Clan Terrace tickets to the pre-season Connacht rugby v Bristol rugby on Saturday August 26th to see new Connacht coach Kieran Keane against Pat Lam’s new team, a €250 shopping voucher for Kildare Village, two return flights to any of the three Aran Islands courtesy of Aer Arann Islands, and tickets to a Manchester United game in Old Trafford.

There will be a short auction for the headline prizes on the night which include: a specially commissioned fine art photo print of Clondaw Warrior, winner of last year’s Guinness Hurdle, by the equine photographer Martina Regan, two tickets to the 2017 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Championship Finals in Croke Park on Sunday, September 3rd and an Irish rugby jersey signed by the Irish team.

TOP PRIZE

The highlight prize comes from Jonjo O’Neill Racing. Sir A.P. McCoy and team have arranged accommodation in Russell’s of Broadway in the heart of the Cotswolds followed by a breakfast tour with Sir A.P. McCoy at Jackdaws Castle home of Jonjo O’Neill Racing in Cheltenham with a morning at the gallops.
