OUR point-to-point columnist Eogháin Ward was in the hot seat for RTÉ Radio 1’s commentary on Saturday when he delivered the call for the Irish 2000 Guineas. Must have made a change for commentating on the banks race at Lingstown!
Eogháin has done RTÉ Radio commentaries before but this was his first classic.
He was joined in studio by Sally-Ann Grassick who could barely contain her excitement over Phoenix Of Spain’s success as Sally-Ann’s sister Cathy was bloodstock adviser to the late Cherry Faeste.
