Foreman checks out the champs

GEORGE Foreman, the two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist who is also an ordained minister, author, and entrepreneur, met two equine champs this week. He paid a visit to Coolmore America (Ashford Stud) and checked out the only two Triple Crown winners at stud, namely American Pharoah and Justify and commented what an honour it was to meet them.

Gowran Park raceday winners

THANK you to everyone who entered our competition and to Gowran Park who provided the prizes for entrance tickets to their race meeting today.

It should be a smashing day for all.

The winner of the golden package is Maria Stack, Wilton, Cork. The two pairs of general tickets go to John Carroll, Callan, Co Kilkenny and Martina Cody, Shankill, Dublin 18.

Thinking caps on for O’Hanlon quiz

THE annual Mark O’Hanlon Racing and Breeding Table Quiz will take place at 8pm next Tuesday, February 19th in the Lord Bagenal Inn, Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow.

Organised by Joe Foley of Ballyhane Stud, the night is a well-established social event attended by plenty of familiar faces from the track and sales circuits. Mark O’Hanlon worked for Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and died in 2015.

Funds raised at this year’s event will go to Irish Injured Jockeys.
