THE Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT) has been in operation for over 20 successful years and is involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of neglected/abused equines. They also run a programme to rehome retired racehorses and are involved in equine welfare education.

They have a new venue for one of the charity’s main fundraisers – the IHWT 4 ball golf at Coolattin GC, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow, taking place on Friday, September 4th. Entry fee is €800 per team which includes the golf, prizes, a welcome snack, and a three-course dinner.

For information email info@ihwt.ie or call Sharon on 086 6047840, and for tee times call Sandy 086 2339722.

The IHWT centre is home to 67 rescued horses and ponies, the oldest of which is an elderly racehorse and the youngest being a foal of just two weeks old which was rescued recently with his mother.

Facilities include stabling and 13 railed paddocks. The fencing is post and rail which is now very old and in bad repair and needs to be replaced. The cost of the fencing is €7,000.

Unfortunately the annual budget doesn’t cover this infrastructure cost so any donations are gratefully received.
