THE Irish National Stud Breeding and Racing Club has added a new racehorse to their string for 2017.
The club, which enjoyed success with Invincible Lia’s maiden win at Clonmel earlier in the year, has purchased a very well-bred yearling to replace her as she has now been retired to the paddocks. The yearling filly is a daughter of champion Dawn Approach and she is a half-sister to the globe-trotting Group 1 winner Red Cadeaux.
The club has enjoyed a great 2016, having seen its colours carried to victory in Powerstown Park, as well as the filly coming fourth behind subsequent Oaks winner Seventh Heaven.
The club members also enjoyed days out to see their fillies work, numerous visits to view their foals at the Irish National Stud, a trip to Jim Bolger’s Coolcullen Stables, to Naas Racecourse, and to the Irish 1000 Guineas and the Irish Champion Stakes.
Waiting in the wings to race is their beautiful Showcasing two-year-old, from the family of Group 1 winner Prohibit, who is in training with Willie McCreery. She is highly thought of by her skilled handler and is aptly named Réalt Rua. She has the size and scope to be a star three-year-old.
The club has capacity for 50 members and the annual fee is just €2,000. In 2017, members will have two racehorses to run in their colours as well as two foals who will be sold on their behalf at the foal sales. Members also receive AIR cards, season passes to the Irish National Stud and Gardens and enjoy a host of activities including stable visits and race days.
It is a wonderful opportunity for those with an interest in racing or breeding to see the whole thoroughbred cycle from the breeding shed to the racecourse and everything in between!
