MORE power to jockeys’ agent Garry Cribbin who, having only taken up running relatively recently, is now representing his country worldwide in international competition.
At the beginning of the month, Garry was in the Danish city of Aarhus for the European Masters Athletics Championship which finished on August 6th with the Aarhus half-marathon, a unique race in which the best runners in Europe compete.
“I was in the 35-39 division,” explained Garry, “and it was a wonderful experience. When poor John Thomas (McNamara) got injured (2013), I wanted to do something to raise funds for the family. I hadn’t run before but I got fit to run in the Dublin City marathon and it took off from there.
“My next stop is the Chicago City marathon on October 8th and then it’s only three weeks to the Dublin City marathon on October 29th!
“My goal is to complete the six great city marathons worldwide and I’m halfway through. I’ve done Berlin, London and New York and now it’s Chicago and then Boston and Tokyo.”
Tune in to hurling
