TRAINER Darren Bunyan has news of an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to get involved with the thrill of being a racehorse owner and having fun along the way.
“We have planned to launch a racing club for some time but waited until we had the right horses. It’s very important to us that the club is successful and grows significantly over time. We’re in it for the longterm and are ambitious in what we are aiming to achieve,” Darren explained.
“Membership provides the opportunity to be associated with the club’s horses and share in their journey both on and off the racecourse while also enjoying the extensive range of membership benefits and club activities.”
Whether you are sitting at home in Ireland or based anywhere in the world, members of the club will have a regular stream of content to inform and entertain. The trainer also looks forward to welcoming members to his stables and to other club events and activities.
Darren enlarged: “We’ve put a lot of thought and work into our club agreement and code of conduct since it’s imperative that the club is well run and transparent for the members. We had that document reviewed by Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) to ensure it meets their requirements and so that the club can benefit from their experience in this area.”
The club is starting off with two horses which will be added to as membership grows. The first two horses are ready to run on the all-weather at Dundalk in the coming weeks and will continue on grass when the new turf season kicks off:
Bunyan outlined the horses’ form: “Recent two-year-old winner Brokers Tip is one, who I rate highly as a horse with a bright future. We waited for a number of years to use this name and I think he’ll do it proud going forward.
“Seven Worlds was third and then second on his latest runs and is a fun horse who is also ready to win, a handsome son of No Nay Never who is such a likeable horse and becomes a firm favourite of everyone who meets him.”
The initial target for membership is 200 people and for each additional 200 members another horse will be added to the club.
“We hope this augurs well for the future and we very much welcome people to get in touch and come join us on this journey,” concluded Darren.
Annual membership is €300 – terrific value.
The club will be run by an executive committee which currently comprises six founding members who are passionate about horses and horse racing. The trainer make all decisions relating to the training and racing programme of the horses.
All other decisions relating to the management of the club are the responsibility of the executive committee.
