DYLAN Browne-McMonagle and Daniel Gilligan dominated last Sunday’s north-west region meeting in Carrickadawson as they rode four and three winners respectively.

Dylan’s opened the day with victory in the 14hh race as Unhinged stretched clear over the final three furlongs with the Rory Mulligan-ridden The Blacksmith chasing him home.

Indeed Rory’s mount was far and away the leading 13.2hh pony in this race. Five Stone Of Lead followed up for Dylan in the 14.2hh race, taking control over the final two furlongs with Nice + Steady staying on well under Keithen Kennedy to grab second close home from the pace-setting Wee Mac.

The 12-furlong race made it a treble for the Team Browne/ Dylan partnership as he brought Let it Go through from midfield to lead inside the final furlong for an impressive win.

Dylan completed his four-timer in the non-winners race where he teamed up with Declan and Kyle McGuigan as Who Knows came round the outside to deliver his challenge, hitting the front in the final strides.

Earlier, the McGuigan stable took the 15hh race with Mr. Bilbao, and in doing so got Daniel Gilligan off the mark for the day. It was only inside the final furlong that they asserted their superiority over Ya Skitter. Daniel went on to take the two-mile race for Monasterevin-based Aidan Melia as He’s Got It came from off the pace to hit the front before the furlong markers and win from a staying-on Stand By Me.

Exciting finish

The most exciting finish of the day was in the second division of the mile race where Mrs Mac and Call The Cops drew clear of the rest of the field and fought out a thrilling finish with Danny only getting the Shane McGinley-owned Mrs Mac in front in the final 50 yards to secure his treble.

Sam Ewing rarely goes home without a winner and he got his last Sunday on Louis Vitton who won the first divide of the mile race, the middle part of a Kyle and Declan McGuigan treble. He led from half-way and never looked in danger from thereon, although he was pushed out all the way to the line and Let’s Roll chased him home.

Ben Mulligan is a rider who is making great strides this year and he gave BI Polar Blondie a patient ride to win the 10-furlong race for Monasterevin owner Shane Crabbe. Ben delivered the winner with an impressive turn of foot two furlongs out that secured victory in a matter of strides.

The local race went to Kian McNally on The Sinful Man, with the complexion changing dramatically two furlongs out as the Will Ewing parted company with Maid Of Candy while still holding a considerable albeit reducing lead, leaving the Nicole Yemm-ridden Bailey to chase the winner home.
