1. Beckford

(G. Elliott)

Curragh June 29th

The former Group 2 winner and dual Group 1 runner-up showed that plenty of his old ability remains intact when finishing a close fifth to Speak In Colours in a six furlongs listed race. He would have been closer with a clearer run and this represented a substantial progression on his comeback effort at Naas the previous month.

2. Contrapposto

(Mrs A.M. O’Shea)

Curragh June 29th

This five-year-old was once rated as high as 99 during his time in Britain and, on a couple of occasions this season, he has indicated that he can take advantage of a slipping mark. He posted quite a decent effort to finish fifth in a useful two miles handicap on Saturday and on a couple of his runs earlier in the campaign he also showed up well over a mile.

3. Emphatic

(J. Larkin)

Bellewstown July 3rd

A four-year-old maiden, this gelding posted his best effort from three starts in Ireland when chasing home Mokhalad in mile handicap on Wednesday evening. He has dropped six pounds in the weights since the start of the season and if he can replicate the form he showed at Bellewstown he will be able to make his mark before too long.

4. Annie Go

(G. Cromwell)

Tipperary July 4th

This newcomer made a bright start to her career when chasing home Dame Kyteler in the three-year-old fillies maiden on Thursday evening. She kept on nicely in the closing stages to finish a clear second and crossed the line three lengths ahead of a 68-rated filly which would suggest a maiden success is well within her reach.
