THINGS were much quieter on the home front, with just a Group 1 at Newmarket and a Group 3 at Tipperary on the flat, in addition to several listed races. That Group 1 was the Sun Chariot Stakes, and it went to Nazeef in a slightly messy race in which the runners finished quite slowly (95% finishing speed on winner).

The winner gets a 113 rating, including an upgrade for sectionals, with Half Light and Cloak Of Spirits on 111 and 113 respectively. Champers Elysees remains on 114, having been messed around slightly and never quite got on terms.

Current Option’s win in the Group 3 Coolmore US Navy Flag Concorde Stakes at Tipperary by a short-head from fellow former handicapper Laughifuwant comes out at 105. Albigna in seventh was well below even this season’s 104 rating.

The listed races at Dundalk on Friday underlined that the surface there is now back to being quicker than shortly after it was relaid. Frenetic posted a 98 figure in overhauling a much-improved Giselles Thunder (94) over five furlongs and Zaffy’s Pride gets a 99 after sectional upgrading for winning at seven furlongs. Other listed races went to Keats (101) at Cork, Berkshire Rocco (107) at Ascot, Ostilio (112) at Redcar, Sweet Gardenia (95) at Tipperary and Lullaby Moon (98) at Redcar.
