JAMIE CODD made his first visit to Sedgefield a winning one on Tuesday. The Irish champion rode Way Out West to victory in a maiden bumper for Co Antrim trainer Stuart Crawford.
The son of Westerner was a well-backed 4/6 favourite but had to be ridden strongly to win. Crawford said: “I was delighted Jamie came over to ride him. He is a very nice horse and I’d imagine now he will be sale.”
It was a good week forCrawford across the Irish Sea as he had a double at Perth on Thursday. His Baby Bach (9/4), ridden by Brian Hughes, won a novice chase before Don Franco (4/1) took a handicap chase under British champion jockey Richard Johnson. John McConnell was also among the winners with Enzani obliging.
Tom Hogan scored with A Three Eighty (20/1) at Worcester. Ridden by Noel Fehily, the French-bred held of favourite Annie Angel by a short-head.
