Qatar Prix de la Foret (Group 1)

WHILE Enable’s defeat ensured the quest to crown a three-time Arc winner continues, one mare did make history with a third Arc day win and her name was One Master.

William Haggas’s Fastnet Rock five-year-old looked to have some serious opposition in her tilt for a three-repeat in the €210,000 Group 1 Qatar Prix de la Foret.

And so it proved, as Earthlight, beaten just once in his eight previous career starts, made much of the running and showed more resolution in front than some had thought likely.

But, perfectly delivered as usual by Pierre-Charles Boudot, One Master came through to score by a neck to prompt as fine a reception in the unsaddling enclosure as the 1,000 paying specatators (the maximum allowed by current Covid regulations) could muster.

Battle could be rejoined between both the first two and third-placed Safe Voyage, not to mention the likes of Pinatubo and Kameko, in a Breeders’ Cup Mile that is shaping up superbly.
