Aidan O'Brien's Idaho, unlucky when he lost Seamie Heffernan when favourite for the St Leger, is the 7/4 favourite in a field of international contenders for the Grade 1 Canadian International as the Ballydoyle trainer goes in search of Bobby Frankel's record tally of 25 Group and Grade 1 races. With four Group 1's on the Champions Day card at Ascot, he may well be much closer to the record by Sunday evening.
The Ballydoyle maestro also sends Best In The World, a Group 3 winner at Cork, for the Grade 1 EP Taylor Stakes, for which she is favourite with British bookmakers.
A strong European team will line up for the two feature races. Nine horses touched down at Pearson International Airport on Monday night as part of a massive European-based contingent set to compete.
International contender Idaho, to be ridden by Ryan Moore, and E.P. Taylor starter Best In The World are due to arrive from Ireland on Wednesday afternoon for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
The two British challengers Dartmouth (William Buick) and Diploma were reported to be in good form after landing in Canada ahead of card at Woodbine.
Both horses are owned by Queen Elizabeth and trained by Sir Michael Stoute, and will tackle the International and EP Taylor Stakes respectively.
Diploma is set to clash with the John Gosden-trained Swiss Range, and Roger Varian’s Nezwaah amongst others in the 10-furlong EP Taylor.
The group includes Canadian International hopefuls also includes German challenger Protectionist, to be ridden by Eduaro Pedroza, while E.P. Taylor contenders also include Aim To Please and Banzari from France and Parvaneh from Germany and five-year-old mare Divine (Mick Channon) who will face the boys in the Nearctic.
They join French challenger Erupt (Stephane Pasquier) who arrived over the weekend.
Mick Channon's Divine is in line for the Nearctic Stakes, a six-furlong turf sprint.
Hugo Palmer's Hawksmoor has arrived in Keeneland ahead of the $US 500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup.
