Oisín leading the way in title race

IRISH-born jockey, Oisín Murphy enjoyed a highly fruitful end to 2019 and that level of form has not relented as we approach the end of January.

To date, Murphy has ridden 18 JRA winners so far this year, which is enough to top the leading jockey’s rankings with a two-win advantage over veteran Yuga Kawada.

Licenced to ride in the JRA until February 3rd, Murphy is currently enjoying a 29% winners to rides strike rate and amassing prize money of €1,950,000.

On January 6th, the 24-year-old rode six winners from 11 rides on the 12 race card at Nakayama Racecourse. Quickly becoming an iconic figure in racing circles, Murphy returned to the same venue less than two weeks later to ride a four-timer from 10 mounts.
