JEROME Reynier and owner/breeder Nurlan Bizakov have a rather enviable task on their hands as they mull over various targets for unbeaten three-year-old Lazzat.
Last Sunday’s Group 3 Prix Paul de Moussac at ParisLongchamp was the first time the gelding was forced to battle, and did so under a penalty, to beat Havana Cigar by a short neck. Now five from five, Lazzat has since been entered for next Monday’s Goffs London Sale.
Reynier impressed
Speaking to Sky Sports Racing, Reynier said, “The more he’s racing, the faster he gets. I quite like the way he was running on after the post.
“We think he will stay a mile. He goes on any ground, straight course, left or right, anything.”
Reynier noted both the Sussex and Lennox Stakes at Goodwood as possible targets, as is the Prix Maurice de Gheest. The latter would avail of Lazzat’s valuable French premiums, which convinced connections to remain in France on Sunday, rather than travel to Royal Ascot.
Further down the line, connections are considering a path less travelled for the three-time stakes winner. “I know his owner would love to bring him to Sydney for the Golden Eagle, so that’s the big target, though very far away.”
By Dalham Hall resident Territories, Lazzat was bred by Bizakov out of Kempton maiden winner Lastochka.
