A FORMER amateur rider has been waiting for 12 months on a €300,000 payout from Ladbrokes.

Dylan Phelan from Waterford, who has ridden three point-to-point winners, placed a €30 each-way double on two Declan Queally-trained horses who won on April 19th, 2024.

The horses were Diamond Nora, winner of a Ballinrobe mares’ maiden hurdle at 16/1, and Rocky’s Diamond, a Limerick maiden hurdle winner at 22/1. However, Phelan took Ladbrokes’ early prices of 125/1 and 80/1 about the pair.

Phelan says when he tried to collect his winnings, Ladbrokes said the races were subject of an investigation by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board [IHRB]. Contacted this week by The Irish Field, the IHRB said their investigations into the two races were “almost complete” but that it was their policy not to publish details of investigations unless they proceeded to a hearing in front of the Referrals Committee.

The 24-year-old Phelan says other bookmakers, both on- and off-course have paid out on the races.

Phelan is associated with the Queally yard, which supplied him with two of his three winners.

The Irish Field approached Ladbrokes for a comment.
